However, between 1725 and 1752, every year on 30th September, a "Poder del Consulado a el Prior y Cónsules" was signed, which made possible the election of authorities, and empowered them to carry out business. These documents, together with the post-mortem inventories and the memoriales of the Catastro de Ensenada give us an insight into the socio-economic standing of its members and the evolution of an institution believed to be dead. One of the "hermanos", don Pedro Tomé González, was present during both periods and was one of the most outstanding and dynamic members of the Consulate in those controversialyears. Wool, the much appreciated white gold, was the raw material which stimulated a listless and mediocre economyLos historiadores del Consulado de Burgos afirmaban que esa institución había desaparecido a principios del siglo XVIII y vuelto a la vida en 1759. Empero, desde 1725 a 1752, cada 30 de setiembre, se firmó un "Poder del Consulado a el Prior y Cónsules" que posibilitaba la elección de sus dirigentes y les habilitaba para llevar la gestión de sus intereses. Estos documentos, combinados con los inventarios post-mortem y los memoriales del Catastro de Ensenada de sus afiliados, permiten efectuar una aproximación a sus comportamientos socio-económicos y al devenir de una institución que se creía disuelta. Uno de los "hermanos", don Pedro Tomé González, estuvo presente en ambos períodos y aparece como uno de los individuos más sobresalientes y dinámicos de esa controvertida etapa histórica.
