Summary: |
Ramón de Salas, professor at the University of Salamanca, was the author of the manuscript "Notes To Genovesi", which actually was a large rejoinder to the famous Genovesi's Lezioni di Commerzo (1765-1767). The manuscriptpt, conceived during the second half of the 1780´s decade, displays a rough criticism of Lezioni's economic ideas, which was the main topic tackled by Genovesi's work, but at the same time, however, a wide number of legal and political critical comments are clearly identified. This work analyses the ideas on Natural Law used by Salas to anwser Genovesi back and the close proximity among the rationalist, individualists and utilitarian approaches and Sala's one, what it was not very usual in the Spanish Enlightenment. Therefore, the crucial role played by certain treatises on Political Economy to spread more than strictly economical ideas out is demonstrated. |
